While the USA is as a whole become far more Liberal to the idea of LGBT rights there is still plenty of opposition and homophobia. Therefore I have chosen the LGBT community as a group that could be described as "other". Some states have still not legalised gay marriage and there is still a strong lobby to increase the rights of Gay individuals and improve their lives. I looked at a website called the LGBT USA network. The website gives many news items displaying homophobia in the USA and offers support to those who need it. There is also plenty of positive news items about LGBT people. However sadly LGBT people are yet to be fully accepted into the mainstream in the USA.
